As an only child born into a modern day Vaudeville family in Wichita, Kansas, Randy spent the better part of his childhood traversing Middle America performing in his father's traveling show, 'Mongrants and Son's Side Show and Patent Medicine Dealers'. So natural was Randy on stage that he soon became the star attraction; People would come from miles around to see the little purple kid get thrown into scenery flats by his stony-faced father, while his mother played the bassoon side stage. Suffering from a complete mental breakdown at the age of seven, Randy escaped the limelight by becoming a roustabout for a two ring Russian Circus. His travels with the circus eventually landed him in Australia and it was here that Randy decided to leave show business for good. In 1982 a family of bus drivers took him in and his teen years were some of the happiest of his life. Dropping out of high school at the age of fifteen, Randy join the pro-surfing circuit and while he was a naturally gifted surfer, he was plagued by an inner ear deficiency and was forced to leave the tour in Vanuatu. He spent the next three years drinking excessive quantities of corner store bourbon while hustling from port to port as a freelance cargo ship crewman. |

Randy returned to Australia after the death of his foster mother in 1990 and in a vague attempt to settle down, enrolled in a teaching degree at Notingwood Technical College. In his first year Randy attended a total of four and a half lectures and mid way through his second year he was politely asked to leave. He then spent the next eleven or twelve years ricocheting between disastrous career moves, romantic miscalculations and reasonably poor life choices. He's as comfortable in a dingy, piss-soaked, rat-infested speakeasy as he is at a cocktail party. He's been married, divorced, arrested, kidnapped and thrown from a moving hovercraft and after three and a half years as an occasionally sober children's entertainer, Randy has temporarily settled on a career in comedy. Randy has been performing his vitriolic brand of stand up comedy for about five years now. His debut solo show 'Randy's Postcards From Purgatory' was a hit at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and went on to a sellout Edinburgh Fringe season. He is currently appearing in 'Ricketts Lane' with his skinny compadre Sammy J. |
